Falls Prevention Specialist in Cheshire

Falls Prevention

Falls can happen at any age but sadly as we get older the risk increases, as do the consequences. Physiotherapy can help improve your muscle strength and also help increase your balance.

Support from people who care

We learn what matters most to you, so you can return to the things you love!

A third of people over the age of 65 will fall at least once a year, and past the age of 80 this increases to half. Falls can result in broken bones and have devastating consequences that lead to loss of independence and poor quality of life.

Our aim at Houlbrook Physiotherapy is to help prevent falls by working with patients to increase strength and improve balance. With consistency and the right exercises improvements can be made and we are here to support you every step of the way.

How does physio help?

Increasing strength improves agility

Improving the strength of your muscles greatly helps improve your reaction times and improves your overall agility, allowing joints to move as they should and at speed. Research has shown that regular strength training increases bone density which can help reduce the risk of fractures.

Balance can be improved with practice

Balance like strength can be improved with regular practice and this can be as simple as standing with your feet together or on one leg whilst you wait for the kettle to boil. A physio can help design a bespoke exercises programme and monitor you whilst you progress.
