Meet the Houlbrook Physiotherapy Team

Our Team

Jo and Kim work together to treat our patients who need the support of two therapists in rehab but also treat patients individually.

Jo Houlbrook, Physio in Tarporley

Meet Jo Houlbrook

Jo qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 2004 and moved to Edinburgh to work at the New Royal Infirmary. Whilst in Edinburgh, she completed her junior and senior two rotations, gaining experience in complex rehab and respiratory medicine in the acute setting.

In 2009 she returned to Cheshire to be closer to family. She worked at Arrowe Park, Wirral, where she gained experience in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal rehab, consolidating the skills she’d already learned in Edinburgh. Jo left the NHS in 2015 to found Houlbrook Physiotherapy.

Jo has a busy family life outside of work with two boys and one mad border collie! Jo loves long walks with the dog, playing tennis (badly), gardening and social time with family and friends.

Meet Kim

Kim joined the team in August 2025 and hit the ground running with her caseload of patients in the community and running the classes at The Coach House Clinic in Clotton.

Kim has a First Class Honours BSc degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Liverpool, and has been busy developing her clinical and rehabilitation skills with a varied caseload across the adult population. Kim also boasts a Level 4 VTCT Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, allowing effective hands-on treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. She also has experience working with community patients to support mobility, independence, and overall wellbeing through personalised treatment and group-based exercise classes. Her approach combines evidence-based physiotherapy with practical exercise to help individuals stay active, confident, and engaged in daily life.

Supporting you since 2015

Houlbrook Physiotherapy was founded in 2015 when Jo Houlbrook, our clinical director, left the NHS after an 11-year career. During that time, Jo gained a wealth of experience and saw first-hand the difficulties of patients and the NHS, making her even more determined to provide quality rehab.

As the business has grown, so has the team and the treatments we offer. Alongside our physiotherapy services, we provide sports massage and musculoskeletal services. We’ve forged alliances with many other professionals, so we’ve got you covered no matter the issue.

Physiotherapy

Community rehab is the cornerstone of our work, and we predominantly work with elderly patients, covering all aspects of rehab and respiratory care where required. We work to improve our patient’s independence and quality of life.

Sports Therapy

Sports therapy covers musculoskeletal injuries and rehab, helping our patients to return to sports or daily life.

Falls Prevention

We run  strength and balance classes with ten exercises; 5 strength and 5 balance aimed at reducing the risk of falls.
