Physiotherapy treatment in Grosvenor Manor Care Home

If you’ve had a little look through our website you will see that we have a referral partners page. One of the nursing homes that we’ve been going into for a number of years is Grosvenor Manor Care Home in Chester.  Grosvenor  Manor is about six years old and has excellent facilities for its residents, there are lovely Gardens that can be accessed from the lower levels, a number of day rooms and there are always activities going on. The staff are also lovely and we have seen over the years that we’ve been going in and out, the caring relationships that naturally forms between the staff and  residents.

We tend to see people when they’ve noticed an issue with their mobility but at times we do see people if they are struggling with their chest.  Often we see people after they have had a  fall, especially if this has resulted in a hip fracture. We work to improve their ability back to their baseline and often beyond. Residents who are there for respite between hospital and going home and also residents that are permanent can all have treatment.

Normally when patients come in for respite they are struggling at home and we can help work out what the issues are and how to resolve them. This might be changes to what equipment they use or even their daily routines. Working on increasing strength is one of our biggest aims as this will help prevent falls in the future as well as improving mobility.

We work closely with the staff at Grosvenor, both the carers and the activity coordinators. They are there every day and help our patients stay on track with exercise programs or using equipment we have asked them to practice with. We also work closely with the patients’ families, this is especially important if there are issues with memory.

We can normally start treatment within one two weeks of a phone call and this is crucial for making those big improvements. However building strength takes time, at least three months to see changes and therefore recovery can take up to six months. This is often a lot longer than the NHS community teams will see patients and we can start when they finish and continue rehab until you see your goals being achieved.

Age should never be a barrier to excellent rehab and that is what we pride ourselves on at Houlbrook Physio.
