Education and Training
As part of our job we work alongside many other professionals, regularly teaching staff how to move our patients. Whilst all carers and professionals we work with have already undertaken manual handling training, therapeutic handling is very different but vital to giving patients good movement and restoring function.
Support from people who care
We learn what matters most to you so you can return to the things you love!
A common problem, and one we see a lot of, is anxiety, particularly when it comes to moving. Excellent and consistent manual handling across all teams can make a huge difference. It provides continuity for the patients and helps reduce stress. When everybody enables someone to stand in the same way, it also embeds good standing techniques into the patient’s routine: which is especially important for dementia patients.
Correct handling empowers patients and reduces fall risks associated with transferring and mobility. We work alongside many carers in residential and nursing homes and patients’ homes and offer training and education to ensure we handle the patient the same way.

Common areas of support
Staff training in residential and nursing homes.
We can provide additional therapeutic handling training to staff within nursing and residential homes to complement existing manual handling training and teaching. We aim to work with your staff in order to equipment them with therapeutic skills that allow for easier and consistent transferring of patients.
Working alongside community carers and private care companies.
We treat a lot of patients within their own homes and often these patients will often have live in carers. We can provide the necessary training and education around the patients’ mobility and equipment needs. This is especially important when carers change or if a new care company is taking over the care of a patient.
If a patient’s mobility deteriorates, we can offer one off assessment and make recommendations based on our findings.
We can train staff on the correct use of new pieces of equipment or mobility aids.
Therapeutic handling based on the patient’s condition.
Different conditions for example Parkinson’s or stroke require different therapeutic handling skills. We can provide education and training regarding the different techniques required. This will empower your staff to be able to provide the best level of care and handling for the patients they’re looking after.
Positioning of patients to improve posture and decrease pain levels is really important.
Understanding the different positioning needs of patients with different conditions is crucial to maximising rehab potential and general comfort. We can offer education to staff regarding best positioning practises based on condition of the individual patient. This will improve the comfort of your patients, reduce the risk of pressure sores but will also enable a better rehab potential.
